BUCHAREST | Anti-corruption prosecutors have detained judge Mladen Carmen and will ask the judges of the Bucharest Court of Appeal her’s preventive arrest for 29 days in the case she is charged with sexual extortion and corruption. Judge Carmen Mladen from Section II of the Court of Civil Appeal of Craiova, was detained on Wednesday by prosecutors and taken to the headquarters of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) to be heard in connection with allegations of blackmail and sexual corruption.
At the end of the hearing, the prosecutors ordered the arrest and that the court will remand her arrest for 29 days. According to judicial sources, Mladen Carmen is accused of having sex with businessmen, as she was aware that they were married. Later, the judge claimed them money or benefits, for not disclosing details which might affect their marriages.
The judge would have demanded large sums of money, sources said. In the ast case, in which DNA prosecutors have intervened, it was about 5,000 euros from a liquidator alleged not to disclose details of their extra marital relationship. Section for judges of the Superior Council of Magistracy nodded on Wednesday the detention and arrest of magistrate Carmen Elena Mladen, as prosecutors requested DNA, for alleged acts of extortion.
