SUCEAVA | Ten cases of acute viral meningitis were recorded in the last 24 hours in Suceava County, including two children aged 2 and 4 years and two high school students, the total number of registered cases reaching 109. According to the Department of Public Health (DPH) Suceava, among patients diagnosed in the last 24 hours there is a child aged two from Suceava and a child aged four from Plopeni and two girls of 17 and 18 from a high school in Suceava.
There were also three students hospitalized with the same disease aged 11 years from Zamostea and Suceava and three students aged 7, 8 and 13. DSP Suceava asked on Wednesday the County Hospital the release and preparation of the Dermatology department for admission of new cases of acute viral meningitis because of the large number of infections.
“This measure is taken to plan for emergencies as the plan says in particular epidemiological context”, DSP Suceava indicates. Executive Director of the Department of Public Health (DPH) Suceava, Ludovic Abitei said on Monday that the outbreak of acute viral meningitis was caused by a virus circulating in the county of Suceava, namely enterovirus Coxsakie B2.
