BUCHAREST | National Statistics Institute (INS) reported on Monday that in May this year, as seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was estimated at 7.7%, being 0.3 percentage points up from the previous month as to the level recorded in May 2011.
The umber of unemployed (aged 15-74 years), estimated in May of this year is 744000 people, increasing from the previous month (720000) and to the same month of previous year (733000). By gender, the unemployment rate for men exceeds by 1.7 percentage points that of women (respective values are 8.4% for males and 6.7% for the female).
For adults (25-74 years) unemployment rate was estimated at 6.1% for May 2012 (6.8% for men and 5.3% in women). Unemployed aged 25-74 years represent 72.9% of the estimated total number of unemployed in May 2012.
