BUZAU | A strong fire broke out on Monday morning at a chemicals company in the city Buzau, workers being evacuated due to the danger they were exposed to. The fire was extinguished by firefighters after an intervention that lasted more than two hours. 40 tons of polystyrene were destroyed by flames.
The spokesman of the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) Buzau, Marius Sarbescu, stated that the fire was extinguished at around 13:00 local time, an investigation being underway to determine the cause and the damages.
Over 80 firefighters from ISU Buzau and workers of the company have taken the fire down with nine firetrucks and seven fire liquidation machines from the Romcarbon company. Buzau ISU spokesman said that according to the first informations, the fire destroyed 40 tons of expanded polystyrene.
