USL read the request for suspension of the President. Basescu: Ponta, the Copy/Paste PM

BUCHAREST | President Traian Basescu told the Parliament that one of the motives for his request for suspension of the post is conjectural, due to the fact that Prime Minister Victor Ponta, provided by the USL, has come to be known worldwide as the “copy/paste Prime Minister”.

In the request for the suspension of Traian Basescu, USL argues that in the last three years the President has always tried to cancel the Romanian democratic regime and its persistence in violating the fundamental law “demonstrates a hopeless attitude”, which justifies the request for suspension.

“I never lied to the people, I told them exactly how I stood and what the Government could do for them, but not because I thought so, but because what I said was the result of discussions with the Government, the IMF and the World Bank. I will respect you twice if with the referendum for the invalidation or validation of the president, people will be put to the vote the amend on the modification of the Constitution”, President Traian Basescu stated in his intervention in the Parliament.

Parliament meet on Thursday in a joint meeting for reading the USL request to suspend President Traian Basescu, while the debate and vote on this request will be held Friday, when probably in the second part of the day the meeting to debate and vote the suspension will take place.
