Andronescu: It is possible to close schools if they had bad grades two years in a row at the baccalaureate

BUCHAREST | Minister of Education Ecaterina Andronescu will analyze the results from the baccalaureate and the admission to high schools, where thousands of children are entering the ninth grade with grades ranking from 3 to 4.99, then she will be taking appropriate measures, not excluding the closure of schools with very poor results.

“We do not exclude the idea of closing some schools that last year performed poorly at the baccalaureate and have not taken any measures to improve their situation. But we will not do anything until after a careful investigation. We’re gentle as a judge”, he said on Monday to the press. Analysis should be realistic and taking in account as many factors as needed, Andronescu said.

Ecaterina Andronescu said on Sunday that the positive results from the baccalaureate exam- 43.04 percent – are below the expectations of the education system, encouraging the students that not passed to give up on holiday and go to the remedial courses.
