WASHINGTON | The Secret Service, the police responsible for protecting the U.S. President and his family will begin an investigation on a police officer in Washington, who threatened to kill the First Lady, Michelle Obama, according to a spokesman. First Lady’s Office didn’t comment on this topic yet.
“We know this incident and we are taking the measures necessary for the investigation”, said the Secret Service spokesman Edwin Donovan, asked about the case after the information was made public by the Washington Post newspaper. According to the newspaper, the policeman, member of the motorcycle police unit from Washington that calls for escorting the motorcades, said on Wednesday it would use a weapon against the wife of Barack Obama.
One of his colleagues reported the conversation to his superiors and the police officer was deployed elsewhere. “We received an allegation concerning improper statements. We investigate the nature of these statements”, said Gwendolyn Crump, the Washington Police spokesman for The Washington Post, without giving further details.
