TELEVISION | Media and entertainment market in Romania will increase from $ 2.7 billion in 2012 to $ 3.4 billion in 2016, according to a report this year’s edition of PwC Global Entertainment and Media Outlook, shows a press release. After decreases in the last three years, media and entertainment industry in Romania will get back in positive territory this year, rising the total nominal value of the market back to the levels before the crisis.
According to this year’s edition of PwC Entertainment and Media Outlook report, local media and entertainment market will grow from $ 2.7 billion in 2012 to $ 3.4 billion in 2016, with an average annual growth of 5.3%. However, in real terms, taking into account the inflation (estimated at an annual average of 3.3% over the period analyzed, from 2012 to 2016), media and entertainment sector in Romania will have a real average annual growth of an only modest 2%, says the statement.
Most growth will come from the Internet access segment, the connections being the fixed and mobile ones (average annual growth rate estimated at 9.3% in nominal terms), while advertising revenues will be in increase to a moderate 4.8% average annual growth rate by 2016. However, consumer spending on the media products will register a negative development, PwC estimates, wit the annual average nominal growth of 1.7%, below the projected inflation.
