REGRETS | Suspended President Traian Basescu said that he “deeply regrets” that he publicly said what he thinks about Romanian King Mihai, adding that this also shows that, even in very sensitive issues, it is important that politicians do not say what they think (democracy? yeah, right… ).
“I deeply regret that I said in public what I think. And it shows me that sometimes politicians, even if there is a very sensitive issues, should not say what they think”, said Traian Basescu in an interview with newspaper “Adevarul” referring to his attitude to King Mihai. Asked how he apreciates that King Mihai did not reply in any way, although he was asked, Basescu said “That is how a King behaves”.
Suspended President was asked how he would characterize certain political figures. Thus, Traian Basescu characterized Ceausescu as a “dictator”, Ion Iliescu as an “undeveloped communist” and he said about Emil Constantinescuthat that “he wanted, but could not do it”.
